Now that we can't go overseas, that does not mean we stop exploring. To us, one of the best ways to learn and see more of the world is through reading. I had the chance to visit Tokyo on my company incentive trip (that was more than 13 years ago before I switched to being a stay-home mum) before the kids came along and up till now, it is still one of my favourite cities and I earnestly hope to bring the family there someday.
Written by our well-loved local author Emily Lim, Marky Polo in Tokyo tells the tale of a pangolin who is travelling overseas for the first time. At the airport, his luggage was taken up by another traveller and in order to retrieve it, he and his cousin had to pass through many famous places in Tokyo.
They include the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Skytree, streets of Harajuku, Shibuya crossing and the Samurai Museum. It is a colourful and interesting way to let the kids learn more about these famous attractions and there are even fun facts about animals native to Japan, for instance the amami rabbit, red-crowned crane and Akita-inu.
The book also lets readers have an Augmented Reality experience simply by downloading an app and scanning the pangolin icon when it appears on the page. We can't wait to see where Marky will go next on his exciting travels!

This is one of my favourite duets of all time and the lyrics (and the subtle things behind the song..etc) are very beautiful & meaningful. If you think of anyone while watching this video, I hope you can send it to them to let them know the impact they’ve had on your life.
I have liked For Good since the first time I heard the song and have always wanted to record a cover of it, but never quite found someone I thought would be the right person to sing this song with me. When I started cosplaying as Magnus and later came across the Edom scene in Shadowhunters, where the characters were potentially separating from each other forever, I knew this was it. Plus, there are other similarities between Glinda & Elphaba in Wicked and Alec & Magnus from Shadowhunters (feel free to comment to let me know what you come up with).
Doing a cover of this song while cosplaying characters from one of my favourite shows, I knew I had to go the extra mile. The amount of time and effort spent along with the things I had to learn, get and do to pull it off was kind of insane, but worth it at the same time (lost track of how many all-nighters were involved.

Thanks for always standing by my side although when the world disagree on me. Thanks for your bottomless mental support which let me went through lots of down time as I always know there’ll at least be a super fans forever, it’s you. As of now, I still feel like knowing you is 1 of the most beautiful accident in life, and you able to calmed me down whenever and wherever you were around. 10 years long run coming to an end, for sure it’s really hurt and sad.

Lastly, sharing out the song I wrote for her 10 years ago, and it’s being re-produced again into a 10th year anniversary version for my proposal purpose. The MV are made by all key moments we been through together. Although my proposal failed, but we do think it’s a best way to conclude and remember those 10 years, from the beginning to the end. The hostile scolding and yelling in the beginning has turned into welcoming smiles
Lots of locals came out of their houses
Some waved at us, some welcomed us with rainbow flags
Grandparents and parents bring their kids
to welcome everyone with smiles and encouragement
The bazaar is a great way
to communicate the values of diversity through daily lives and fun activities
The weather was great as always
Rays of sunlight radiated on everyone’s faces
We sang, danced and clapped along with the volunteers
in a stunning display in front of every corner of the streets
We all want to live happily ever after
That includes people joining the parade or those of you in front of the computer
We long for a person, a place, a safe haven, to rest our tired, wary hearts.
The slogan for this year’s Hualian Pride is “Ten years and going strong”
While that of Yilan’s is “Coming home, straight or queer.”
May all of us come home with our heads held up high.
May we spread the word of diversity.
May every person, every kind of quality, every kind of love be respected.
